Short Note on Indian Desert :-

The Thar Desert also known as the Great Indian Desert in the Northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent. It is an undulating sandy plain covered with sand dumes. Thar Desert has Arid Climate. It is the world's 18th largest subtropical desert. Desert boundary running along the border between India and Pakistan. The desert extends from the Sutlej River, surrounded by the Aravali ranges on the east, on the South by the salt marsh known as the great Rann of Kutch and on the West by the Indus River. 

The important areas covered by the desert include Barmer ,  Jaisalmer ,  jodhpur, bikaner  , Suratgarh and Ganganagar. 


Very little rainfall is experienced in the Thar Desert. With Average rainfall  less than 150mm per annum. The temperatures can range from 0 degree celsius in winter and over 50 degree in the summer. Luni is the only river in this Area.
