Speech on Mahatma Gandhi 

Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October , 1869 at Porbunder in Gujarat.

Gandhiji said ' Those who talk about the seperation of religion and politics do not know what religion is'. 

The Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 was Mahatma Gandhi's first satyagraha in India. Mahatma Gandhi give the title 'Nightingale of India ' to Sarojini Naidu 

on account of the beautiful and rhythmic words of her poems.

Gopal Krishna Gokhale , the famous moderate leader was the Political Guru of Mahatma Gandhi. When Gandhi returned to India in 1915 , on the advice

of his political Guru Gopal Krishna Gokhale , he spent the first year touring through out the country to Know the real India.

Gandhiji believed that the country can only prosper if we make our villages economically independent through cottage industries. This was the priciple behind Khadi movement , behind Gandhi's urging that Indians spin their own clothing rather than buy british goods.

Gandhi Ji had said : India's soul lives in villages. He, therefore , in this constructive work programme give primacy to rural work. He wanted workers to go 

to villages and work with the people. His special emphasis was to improve the status of Rural women.

Mahatma Gandhi started his dandi march with a band of 79 trained and disciplined workers from Sabarmati Ashram to the Sea shore on 12 march 1930.

The Quit India Movement was a civil disobedience movement launched in India in August 1942 in response to Mohandas Gandhi's call for immediate independence.
